Your body actually kicks into “fight or flight” mode, preparing for an attack with all sorts of physical symptoms. These symptoms include increased heart rate, increased blood flow to the muscles, and an increase in muscle tension.
The result is that your body acts like it is in a dangerous situation even though there is no real threat. Social context refers to the general situation in which an action is taking place. For example, if you were in a grocery store and saw a man with a knife charge towards you, most people would freak out and run away rather than talk to the perp about why he has a knife (even though there might be no threat).
